Get To Know Me

Goal motivated, passionate, determined undergraduate Respiratory Therapy major. I am currently enrolled at the University of Indianapolis where I am pursuing an education in hopes of providing healthcare to improve the lives of my future patients. I am working towards earning a certificate in Aging Studies. I am an active member of the Family Relations Committee for the University of Indianapolis Dance Marathon. 
Within this portfolio, there are examples of academic pieces of work such as English papers, journal entries, and research I have conducted that highlight the student I am. I chose to include these academic pieces as it not only highlights the student that I am but also explores who I am as a writer and how I can be vulnerable within my writing. The memoir allowed me to reflect on a traumatic experience in my life and express how writing allowed me to work through my emotions. The exploratory research paper, allowed me to research a subculture that reflected my knowledge from Aging Studies courses. The journal entry was an opportunity to express how I am as an individual writer not under the pressure of receiving a grade for an assignment. Finally, the gerontology research I included was another opportunity where I could express my skills as a writer and connect my skills to the certificate I am earning in Aging Studies.
